Sorry, sorry, sorry.

That's it. Sorry for no news at all. Starting, I'm having some major design issues with VB6 that made me choose to move to VB .NET which will make things much easier.

Second, ZotEdit's development's a little slow because I simply adopted too many hobby projects (including a Duke Nukem 3D Palm port) and need to organize everything. But ZotEdit WILL get its time, believe me. :)

Aside from that, I have some urgent real job things to be done and I fell sick for 4 days after being half-sick the entire week. =p

Some more news about the .NET move soon. :)

Finally... something you can download (but don't get too excited)

I've finally uploaded a "pre-pre-pre-pre-alpha-with
-only-imagelist-definition-and-exporting" version of ZotEdit. Really, the only you can do here is to define some images and click a button (which by the way is labeled "Get Image Definition") and it shows you a message box with the definition of the image in ZotConfig language. I know this is somewhat useless but whatever :)

Note that the defined images must be in the ZotEdit directory if you want to have image preview working. Also, you'll need to have IrfanView (a popular image viewer; just the executable -- i_view32.exe will do) in the same folder as ZotEdit (that will change in the future). Just copy i_view32.exe there and run ZotEdit, it previews everything automatically whenever you change an attribute :). You can get IrfanView from http://www.download.com/3000-2192-10021962.html.

A sample image (the ZotEdit logo) is included too for you to play around :)

Now, have fun with this useless piece of not-even-nearly-finished software:

Baaaaad news

That's right, baaaad news. I've got some paying stuff to be done in three days, so please don't expect any ZotEdit news until saturday or so.

Sorry for this... I want ZotEdit to be done as much as you :)

Screenshot

Just a quick look of how it will most likely look. Of course we still need menus and a toolbar and such, but the basic idea's well shown in that screenshot. (game-maker style. woot! :)

Current Status

First, welcome to the ZotEdit blog. Quite the perfect way to tell you the progress of ZotEdit, right? So here's the current status: after writing some of the data storage part, I realized ZotEdit will be too complex to do as I please... so I need to write a plan (for the first time ever) to develop it. I need to write things like which features are planned for which release, stabilish some deadlines and such.

Unfortunately real life exists... I'll probably be too busy to work the amount I wanted on ZotEdit in the next week, altough I'll do something when I have the time. I'll write the said plan very soon too (probably tomorrow or saturday). As soon as I write it, I'll post it here (but don't get too anxious with the deadlines... I'll probably not reach them in time =p).
